We are Colectivo Libera, a multidisciplinary team that believes in the educational and healing influence of books and storytelling. That is why we support the creation of small but powerful book collections in Athens, in co-operative foundations/non-profit social enterprise associations/ self-organized housing projects for use by migrant residents – especially the children –. Additionally, for our collective it is just as important to raise awareness worldwide about the terrible situation of the approximately 60.000 people trapped in Greece while they wait for asylum, as a consequence of the border closing after the agreement between Turkey and the European Union in 2016.

In this context, Colectivo Libera has launched the project House of Words, based in Athens (Greece) and Spain, as our contribution to society through our love for books and with the collaborative efforts of many people. To this end, our members bring  knowledge and experience of the migrants’ realities in Greece, of the needs of self-organized housing projects and of library science.
